Comfort and Health

An approach methodology that puts the user at the heart of the design

We observe that subjects related to the comfort and health of users are taking an increasingly important place in the design of buildings. This development is linked to several factors:

  • First of all, the observation of the increase in respiratory diseases and the in-depth studies which have shown that indoor air can be more polluted than outdoors.
  • Global warming leads to more intense and more regular heat waves.
  • The increase in visual fatigue linked to screens on the one hand and the lack of natural light on the other.

At the same time, we are seeing that the population is spending more and more time indoors and that enclosed spaces must therefore be healthy and pleasant places to live.

In order to better understand these issues and deal with them effectively during the design phases, we intervene with project owners and project management teams, in engineering and as advice to optimize architectural choices, constructive and technical around these subjects.

The solutions provided are closely linked to the project and its characteristics such as its location, its uses, urban planning constraints, architectural expression, volume management and interior layout, etc. Thus, they are specific to each of the projects and require work and a collaborative approach with all the partners.

Through the missions that Synairgis offers, our role is to identify the sources of discomfort, whether olfactory, sanitary, visual, acoustic or thermal, and to analyze the various means of reducing or even eliminating them. This approach requires solid knowledge, because the various themes addressed can be contradictory (example: favoring the contribution of natural light while protecting against summer solar contributions) and the solutions adopted to improve one theme can degrade others. Thus, we proceed in stages and seek an optimal compromise after several simulations. The solutions can be on the one hand of an architectural order on the zoning for example, the choice of the interior coatings or the dimensions and the position of the joinery and on the other hand of a technical order in relation to the solar protections or the constructive choices for the building. 'inertia.

We also adapt our approach according to the expectations and objectives of the project owner and taking into account the budgetary constraints of the operation.

Our strengths:

  • extensive experience, particularly related to environmental approaches and calls for projects
  • a capacity for multi-criteria analysis
